Hummm
Midori Hirose explores sounds with the participants in The Dalles in Hummm, an aural and visual exhibition. Hummmis housed in Vogt Opera House (above Morin Printing.) In response to the historic opera house, Hummm explores contemporary time-based media with the people and its surroundings.
The larger project, the Portland2016 Biennial of Contemporary Art, is a major survey of Oregon visual artists who are defining and advancing the state’s contemporary arts landscape. Disjecta Contemporary Art Center invited Michelle Grabner, a nationally recognized curator who served as co-curator of the 2014 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art to lead the Portland2016 Biennial.
Prior to this project the biennial shows were held at the Disjecta Center or other Portland venues. This year works from 34 artists are featured in 25 partner venues around Oregon, dramatically expanding access for audiences.
