Radio Cab
Radio Cab, Wo Wo Wo Wo IV, 2013—2014
I left my eight-year Research and Production Design PDX/AMS position to connect as a resident artist with communities I would normally not connect with, and thus began Wo Wo Wo Wo IV community outreach in my hometown. How does one go about this?
I. Pre-rideshare. Trained as a Radio Cab Driver from 2013-2014 to coordinate media for the Radio Cab Foundation Food Drive for this art residency.
II. Successfully reintroduced Radio Cab to the 2013 Grand Floral Parade, marking its return after a hiatus since 1947.
III. Co-set up the 2013 and 2014 Pride Parade for Radio Cab.
IV. Coordinated Food Drive events and helped launch PR for the non-profit, Radio Cab Foundation.
Radio Cab Foundation is a hunger relief program that raises funds to feed families in our immediate community during the holiday. Volunteer drivers have direct contact with families when they deliver food to their doorsteps which can bring about a profound connection.
If you'd like to help the Radio Cab Foundation monetarily or through volunteering, contact the Radio Cab Foundation. All proceeds are tax-deductible and go towards the Radio Cab Foundation. Twenty dollars can go a long way: A Christmas Dinner to bring families and friends together during tough times in our beautiful City of Portland, our City of Roses.
Let us celebrate life.
Time does fly when you're having fun.
To drive.
