Spitwad Book I of II. An interactive acrylic book composed of Spitwads.
This piece is based on the classic child’s play game of “spit wad.” The spit wad clay pieces can be seen through each translucent page of the interactive sculpture. The book can be opened to “read” the spit wad arrangements.
Spitwad. I made 200 sculptures. Delivered individual Spitwad sculptures via post and in person to colleagues, friends and family in the US, Japan and Europe.
Each sculpture is approximately 1" round and varies in size. Pictured above are several spitwad sculptures adhered to cubes. Materials: clay and gouache. Museum putty was tacked onto each spitwad as a back-ready-appliqué and enclosed with the following note:
